When I’m stricken with the thought that I can’t make it anywhere, I remind myself of all the friends I have now.

They’re just so incredible and are so willing to help me succeed. No room for jealousy. Just empowerment. Here’s how I found those friends:

1. 𝗜 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. I get involved. I go online and find communities I seek to have friends in. I speak up.

2. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲. Be the magnet for like-minded people. Be the person you want to be friends with.

3. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. Successful people surround themselves with successful people.

If you start out with nothing, say yes to everything. Once you build up credentials, you can be selective and reserve your time for what’s important.

4. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗠𝘀. Find the people you want to chat with and be strategic (don’t just say hi. Say Hi with a purpose!)

5. 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀. Be genuine in your pursuit for great friends.
